Very fast, has very nice screen, excellent hardware. (and how to fix speaker volume), December 18, 2010 This review is from: Toshiba 15.6" Satellite C655-S5061 Intel Core i3 Laptop 4GB Notebook 500GB Computer PC (Personal Computers) This is an excellent upgrade from my old dell. I love how fast it is, i can click on programs and they open right away, and videos load very quickly. The screen, also, is very bright and looks excellent and vivid. I also like the windows 7 operating system a lot. It's not the best looking computer, but you only ever look at the screen anyways, and i prefer this look to something with swirls or bright colors, it's much more classy.
When i first got it i was very disappointed with the speaker volume, i couldn't properly hear videos without using headphones- they were just too quiet. To fix this problem:
1. go to the Control Panel (found in the start menu),
2. click on "hardware and sound,"
3. under "sound" click on "change system sounds," this will bring up a window called "Sound"
4. click on the "playback" tab, click on "speakers," (mine are powered by a "Conexant" driver),
5. click on "properties" (in the lower right of the window). this will open... Read more

But i noticed one thing about this laptop The webcam color picture is horrible its like any other webcam that you get at the store at target the color is bad but then again i dont use the webcam anyways.As for the most of you that says that a smell is comming out of the vets thats over heating or the sound is bad. well i really havent had that problem and everything seems to be working well besides the webcam.
I didnt get this laptop through amazon.com.i got it at bestbuy for $449.99 for a christmass present it was on sale and it was way better of a price than amazon was getting for it.
Good Not Great, March 14, 2011 This review is from: Toshiba 15.6" Satellite C655-S5061 Intel Core i3 Laptop 4GB Notebook 500GB Computer PC (Personal Computers) Purchased this prior to Christmas 2010. Looked like a good deal relative to capabilities (W7HP x-64). Upgraded to W7Pro x-64. Doing ok for the most part. Started having spontaneous reboots with the following black screen notification:
Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller Series v2.29 (06/30/09)
PXE-E61: Media test failure, check cable
PXE-M0F: Exiting PXE ROM
Disable PCI LAN in Bios; receive no bootable device
Disabled PCI in CMOS setup; now, when the spontaneous reboot occurs, I get the the black screen with "no bootable device available". I reboot in Safe mode, then normal, and wait for the next event. Called Toshiba, and received the general non-comittal, "When it happens again, we'll boost it to a level 2 tech issue." Did a complete system scan with Norton 360 v5 Premier - so far so good. Maybe it's that the hard drive has a milli-second comms disconnect from the system and that's the reason for the failure. Maybe it's the i3. We'll see... Read more
